Our Story/Jesse’s Story:
The BabyJesse Foundation was started in late 2009 by the family of Jesse Alexander Dodson. Shortly after being born Jesse was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia. Biliary Atresia is a rare children’s liver disease affecting only 1 of nearly 20,000 kids. Jesse was born a healthy, happy baby in early September of 2009, little did we realize, in the coming months we would be in for a roller coaster of emotions ranging from elated happiness to extreme fear and being utterly distraught.
Typically babies are diagnosed between anywhere from the moment of birth into the early months of life. In the case of Jesse the doctors caught the disease reasonably quickly, he was merely 8 weeks old. As soon as the reality of the condition set in we realized that frequent trips to the hospital, many different medications, nearly constant blood work, and ultimately, surgery were imminent.
Our Vision:
Our vision is one of The BabyJesse Foundation growing into a large charity which will provide families with information regarding Biliary Atresia, support while going through the process, questions & answers, as well as financial aid. We will have information here on the website on all facets of the medical processes you may be experiencing as well as community support on both Facebook and Twitter.
In the near future we will have fund raising events as well as free information hand-outs, all event information will be found here on the website. We also plan on expanding across the globe either via the web or physical “chapters” in different areas of the U.S. as well as around the globe.
We understand that it is difficult having a loved one suffer from any disease, let alone your child. We aim to be here for support in all phases of both the issues and joys of having a child with Biliary Atresia. Please feel free to drop us an email with any questions or concerns you may have!
